About Your Photographer – Kyla D

Hi, I’m Kyla D. Longino, the face behind Kyla D Photography. If you’ve stumbled across this blog, welcome—I’m glad you’re here.

I’ve always had a love for creativity. Whether it was painting, crafting, or finding new ways to make a space feel beautiful, I’ve never been able to sit still without creating something. But photography is the one creative outlet that truly stuck. And honestly, it became more than a hobby once my kids, Arwyn and Ransom, came into the picture (pun fully intended). Suddenly, I had these two beautiful little humans, and I couldn’t resist learning how to capture their big personalities, sweet smiles, and even their not-so-sweet tantrums.

My Approach to Photography

Now, I get to do the same for other families. My style is relaxed and natural—I want you to feel like yourselves, not like you’re posing for a stiff portrait from 1995 (although, we can have some fun with that and do a few of those too :). It’s okay if your kids are wiggly. It’s okay if someone makes a silly face. And yes, it’s even okay if a toddler cries mid-session. Some of my favorite photographs ever are the real ones: a tiny tear at the corner of a baby’s eye as she looks up at her mom, or a big sister looking a little unsure about what to do while little sister throws a fit. That’s life—and those are the moments you’ll want to remember one day.

When I edit, I lean toward natural tones with just a touch of vintage vibes. Think timeless, not trendy. I want your photos to feel as special twenty years from now as they do the moment you see them.

A Little More About Me

I live in Temple, Texas with my husband, Caleb. He’s a firefighter in Georgetown and together, we also renovate properties and run a few short-term rentals—it’s a full, busy, wonderfully chaotic life. We’re raising our kids in a house that dates back to the 1800s, and there’s something I just love about living in a space with so much history. It reminds me daily that life is made up of fleeting moments that turn into lasting stories—exactly what I try to capture with my camera.

Why I Do This

The bottom line is that I believe photography should tell your story. Not the polished, perfect version—but the real one. The one where everyone’s personalities shine through, the one you’ll look back on and laugh about, the one that feels like you.

So that’s me. I’m Kyla, a photographer, wife, mom, and lover of all things creative. If you’re looking for someone to capture your family’s story in an honest, natural way—tears, giggles, and all—I’d love to be that person.

Thanks for stopping by. I can’t wait to share more here—behind-the-scenes peeks, photography tips, and of course, plenty of beautiful families. Stay tuned!

—Kyla
